You've Got Mail Project

Hello! Hope you had a great weekend, whether it was celebrating Valentine's with the ones you love, watching the Olympics, or just relaxing. I had a little of each this weekend. Here's a pic I posted on Instagram of a little Valentine's project I made. The white tin mailbox and cute Valentine's heart-shaped lights are from Target. I used a gold Sharpie for the words. The wooden pins are from Cabin and Cub and Fox and Fancy that I got from past Got Craft? events. How cute are those? I wrote a little note for each envelope and placed them inside the mailbox. You can get the love card in my shop here. Even though this was a project I did for Valentine's I think it might be something I would do for any other special occasion.

All you need is love love love...

As I'm getting settled into the new year, I realize Valentine's is only about a month away! I've started to see pins and cute DIY projects online. Here's a peek at some of new Valentine's cards. They are available in the shop here, along with the rest of the collection and favourites from seasons past. xo

It's 2014!

Hello & Happy New Year (it's nine days in already, but I think it's still OK to say that)! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and 2014 is off to a great start.

Things were busy busy over the past few months. A major part of that was from working on a new collection...And here it is! I'm so excited to share it with you, as some of these design ideas have been sitting in my sketchbook for awhile.

There are over twenty designs in the new collection, and these are a few pics that I've taken. More to come soon. You can view & shop the full collection over here :)

In the Press!

This post has been long overdue, but I'm still excited to share it with you. It's always a thrill to see my cards in the press. I feel very grateful to have two of them in the lovely Summer 2013 Issue of Stationery Trends! The Bow Ties card was chosen as part of their cover story "Design from A to Z," and Birthday Cake was part of their Fresh Picks section. You can shop both cards online here.

Making it

This weekend is Whole Foods' Living Naturally Fair on Robson Street. As a vendor, I was asked if I wanted to donate a gift basket, where proceeds from the draw would go towards the Whole Kids Foundation. It was fun to put together a few box sets of cards, but I have to admit, wrapping it with the plastic wrap was ALOT trickier than I thought. Perhaps it had something to do with the square box rather than the usual round basket? It took me several tries and a bit of luck to finally get something to look presentable. Here's a before plastic wrap and after pic.

If you're local to Vancouver, the fair is at 1675 Robson St, Vancouver B.C.

City Notecards

Back in April I posted on my new City Stamps set and mentioned that the idea for them actually came from designing notecards (see here). I'm happy to say that the notecards are now done! This collection was inspired by my love of travel and the handwritten hello. My idea was to create notecards that could be used from your home city, but also as gifts to others, whether it is a city they love, or one they have traveled to. I’m always excited to receive something in the mail from a traveling friend, and also to send one back home when doing some traveling of my own.

I first showed these notecards at Got Craft? and it was great to get direct feedback. They come boxed in sets of 8 or individually. In case you're wondering why I chose these five cities, I shared the significance of each in the City Stamps post

You can get these cards in my online shop here. To celebrate the start of summer, I'm offering 25% off until June 30, 2013. Use promo code CITY25 at checkout.

I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see my Birthday Macarons card in the newly revamped Stationery Trends (Spring 2013 NSS Issue)! Huge thanks to them. I'm really loving the new look of the magazine as well. It's a great issue filled with plenty of paper and gift goodies from the NSS and more. You can get the macarons card online right here. xo

A Quick Recap...

It's been a little while since the last post. Here's a quick recap in pictures of what's happened over the past few weeks in work and in life!

It was Got Craft? weekend April 27-28th. It was a busy week leading up to the event and plenty of prep work, but it was so worth it in the end! I was incredibly happy and honoured to be a part of Poppytalk's Got Craft blog post on scenes from the event.

I got to debut my new City Notecards, which were just ready at the printers the day before.

I was also fortunate to get the end table, so thought I would make a little note to passer-byers (is that even a word?) with a "hi" :)

It wouldn't have been the same without Simple Soap. Other than being able to share a table with my good friends, it was great to be smelling yummy soap all day! I just can't get enough of their Oatmeal Honey bar.

I took the following Monday off and enjoyed a beautiful, albeit very windy, afternoon walking around Stanley Park. Capped the day off with a coffee + reading session at JJBean :)

The weather continued to be summer-like this past weekend, so we took hike up to Quarry Rock in Deep Cove. This picture doesn't do the view justice, but believe me when I say, it was gorgeous up there!

...And that caps off the past few weeks. I'm actually surprised I don't have any food pics to show you! Guess I've been a little too busy eating to take pics! xo, Val

{LAUNCH!} New Collection In Shop

After several months of sketching and editing, back to sketching then editing (repeat this multiple times and in reverse order), my new Spring 2013 Collection is out! I'm incredibly excited and happy about the way the cards turned out. With this collection I wanted the designs to be a little brighter, more colourful, and cheerful, while still staying true to the same overall style of my past collections.

There are a few themes:

For Foodies: Many of my new cards have been inspired by my love for good food and sweet treats.

For Him: Who says there aren't any good cards for guys out there? I made sure to include a selection for Father's Day as well.

For Her: From Mother's Day cards to a 'just because' note for your best girlfriend.

I would love to hear what you think of the new cards. I'll have them at the upcoming Got Craft? event happening April 27 - 28 at the Maritime Labour Centre in Vancouver. You can also view the complete new collection and get the cards in the shop HERE first!

Hey Looook!

A couple of really nice surprises happened towards the end of last week.
The first being when some of my Valentine's cards were spotted at my local Chapters/Indigo! I love visiting this store to check out all the paper goods and gift items, so I can't tell you how excited I am to have my cards there. They are also at several locations across Canada.

The second surprise came when I spotted my "I Button U" card in the latest Winter 2013 Issue of Stationery Trends Magazine. I was winding down the day and flipping through it when I saw the card. My first thought was, hmmm... this card looks familiar, followed by "wohooooo!"

After a really busy week, with more to come in the weeks ahead, these nice little surprises really do brighten things up. It's a little reminder that I have much to be grateful for.

Hop on over to my shop here if you'd like to get these cards online.

They'll be launching an online shop very soon so you can get your hands on all the wonderful things they have in store. If you're in the Phinney Ridge area of Seattle, be sure to stop by to say hello.

{Shop Stop}: much&little

much&little is a beautiful shop in the Mount Pleasant area. It has a feeling of vintage and modern mixed together, with jewelry pieces and household goods that I would love to have in my home. I'm thrilled to have my greeting cards here, along with a few other wonderful card lines. Each item is hand-picked by owner Sarah Savoy, and so thoughtfully laid out and displayed, making this shop a very special place to be.
